Originally from Los Angeles, Karen moved with her family at a young age to Logan, Utah to care for her aging grandmother. She received her education in Nursing from Utah Technical College. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona and it was there she raised her daughter Emily. While she was caring for her aging mother, she met her husband, James, and after her mother’s death, moved to Abilene. Karen answered a call to ordained ministry and was ordained as a deacon in 2018. Karen finds her fulfillment in God’s creation and in caring for all of God’s creatures, especially the broken, the sick and the dying.
